The Cathedral School

Years 3 and 4 - Summer Term 2027

Welcome to the final term of the school year! We have lots of exciting learning planned as we head into the Summer Term.

In History, we will be travelling even further back in time to explore the achievements of the Ancient Egyptians, discovering how this fascinating civilisation lived and what they left behind. In Geography, we will be asking “Are all settlements the same?” and investigating the different types of settlements and why people choose to live in particular places.

There will be plenty of opportunities to get creative too. In Art, we will be exploring Sculpture and 3D, creating our own artwork inspired by the theme Making Memories. In Music, we will be experimenting with FX sound effects, exploring how sounds can be created and used to bring music and ideas to life.

In Science, we will be learning about plant reproduction before investigating the fascinating question “Does hand span affect grip strength?” through our own practical investigations.

As always, there will be lots of reading, writing, RE and maths, alongside our other areas of learning. Year 4 will also be completing their Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) this term, so please keep practising those times tables at home using TTRS and Mathsframe!

And, of course, we will be making the most of our final term together with plenty of opportunities to learn, create, investigate and have fun!

The 2027 Multiplication Tables Check

This term the children in year 4 are required to complete a multiplication check.

The multiplication check is an online test in which pupils are required to answer 25 times tables questions.  These questions will check their fact knowledge from the 2 times tables up to the 12 times tables and they will have 6 seconds to answer each question.

The best way for them to be successful is to practice, practice, practice.  All children have logins for TTRockstars which they can access in school and at home, as well as visiting Maths Frame website which they are familiar with.
